Rabbit rescue
After 6 years of running the rescue and over 300 rabbits finding fantastic new homes, I have decided to close the rescue due to time and financial restraints. A massive thankyou to everyone who has given a rescue rabbit or guinea pig a home and I'm always here still for help advice.

I still care for the bunnies that can't be rehomed for health or behavioral problems and they shall spend the rest of their lives with me, however I shan't be taking any new ones in. I have met some fantastic people along the way and would like to say thankyou, to every single one of you.

I still have a few pairs of adult guineapigs and 5 babies that are still searching for homes - if you can offer them a loving home please feel free to contact me.

Can you help?

As well as running Animal Crackers, I also run a rabbit and guineapig rescue and always have lots of animals needing new homes. Most come from family homes, others are abandoned or dumped on me, a few come from meat markets and often I just get a random phone call out of the blue asking for me to take the animal in. They all stay a minimum of 3 weeks where I access their behaviour and it also gives me time to notice any ailments or illnesses and time for any pregnancies to become apparent. Wherever possible I try to bond the newcomers with a single or group of friends once they have had their isolation period, they are then up for adoption.

I only advertise rabbits and guineapigs that are happy to be handled and tame. I have lots come in growling and spitting, however these are not rehomed until I am 100% happy that they can be handled by anybody, no matter how long it takes to tame them. One of the bucks from the meat market was sommersaulting, growling, spitting and biting when he first came but now lets us handle him , however it wouldn't be fair on him or other people to try and rehome him with the issues he has.

Please be aware that the animals available for rehoming may change on a daily or weekly basis, as some are rehomed and others come in. Please feel free to enquire if you are looking for something in particular that is not on our site, as if I do not have any in rescue I will probably be able to find an animal at another rescue to suit your requirements.

Rabbit (!) and Nutmeg
Again these 2 lovely girls do not need to be rehomed as a pair. They are also part of the free range group and happened to get in the same photo together, along with one of the rescue babies! (details below)

Rescue babies

5 rescue babies currently available. Their mum came into our care pregnant (although we were not aware of this at the time!) and suprised us a few days later with these little bundles of fun. They are too young to sex yet but details will be posted as soon as possible. They will be ready for new homes in mid february when they will be 8 weeks old. They are available to view now. We can't guarantee how big these little ones should grow as obviously we don't know what breed/size dad was, but their mum is a small - medium sized bunny.

Molly

Age   : 2-3 years
Sex   : Female
Breed/Mix : Lionhead cross
Approximate size : medium

This beautiful girl is so chilled out, she has been used a continuous breeding machine in her last home and is just desperate to be loved. She is himilayan marked which means she has markings on her nose and ears, hers are light grey in colour. Because of this she doesn't have red eyes which I know puts a lot of people off white rabbits.

Lola

Name : Lola
Age   : 18 months
Sex : Female
Breed/Mix : Mini lionlop
Approximate size : Small
Neutered :No
(chocolate and cream himilayan marked mini lion lop)

Lola is a very pretty girl, however does need an experience rabbit home, preferably with no children as she is sometimes a rather stroppy bunny. She needs someone who has time to spend with her to build up her trust in people and dedication, so that she won't be returned at the first hurdle. She loves the company of other bunnies (she is pictured here with Bob, a castrated male) and may well calm down through neutering. I am more than willing to let people meet Lola and see her at her worst, but as long as she managed to get lots of exercise and has plenty of stimulation (toys/time out in run or garden/attention) then 95% of the time she is on her best behavior!

Cola

Name : Cola
Age   : 2 years old
Sex : Female
Breed/Mix : Double maned lionhead
Approximate size : Medium
Neutered :No

Cola came to us pregnant and gave birth to 2 stunning babies. These have now been rehomed and so cola is looking for her forever home. She is part of the free range gang so must go with another bunny, or to bond with an existing bunny.

Heidi

Name : Heidi - reserved pending bonding with existing rabbit.
Age   : 10-12 months
Sex : Female
Breed/Mix : German Lop
Approximate size : Large
Neutered :No

Heidi came from us from someone who couldn't wait to get rid. She came aged 6 months old, with a litter of 5 babies who were all around 4 weeks old. Apparently she had been bought to breed from to make the owner some money, but when she only produced albino babies they wanted rid as they said that they'd struggle to sell them. Because she had been bred at an early age, Heidi is not as big as German lops should be. Instead of using her energy to grow and develop, she was having to produce and raise babies to earn some slefish person some money. She is also part of the free range gang and loves her bunny friends!

Free range gang mad half hour!

Also in rescue awaiting adoption, needing photos and write up:

Female Lionheads, all white x 2 -  2-3 years old
Male cross breed, all black - 9 months ol
Female lionhead cross, white - 2-3 years old.
Female lionhead cross, brown and white- 6 months old
Female dwarf lop, black, 12-18 months old
3 x tricoloured double maned lionhead females - 5 months old - one reserved pending bonding
White German lop female - 12 months old - reserved pending bonding
French lop bonded pair - castrated agouti male, 18 months old and chinchilla nuetered female - 12 months old.
1 x Blue otter netherland dwarf female - 3 years old
1 x white and brown spotted lionhead female - 12 months old
1 x himilayan marked lionlop - *adult home only* - 18 months
1 x black netherland dwarf - 18 months

In rescue but not yet up for adoption:
Rex female, 12-18 months old. Needs taming as she is a meat market bunny and is very traumatised

1 x Dwarf lop female - may be up for adoption in a few months time. She came with a big abcess on her leg, she's been to the vets who say that we should leave it on her for whilever she's happy and then have her put to sleep if ever it becomes to much for her. They said that she could potentially live a few more years as long as it doesn't grow too much but we need to keep an eye on it for the next few months to see how she's progressing.

1 x dwarf lop male - another traumatised bunny from the meat market. Won't be up for adoption for a while yet, even though he's making huge improvements.

1 x lionlop female - currently in her isolation period.

1 x Blind little netherland dwarf - she is a permenant stayer and lives quite happily with one of our other male rescues. Our little mini lop also has problems with his eye are requires medication, so we had him neutered and they live together quite happily.

Several guineapigs also for adoption, mostly males. All guineapigs must go in pairs or groups, or to bond with an existing pig.

I also offer a bonding service to bond one of my rescues to an existing rabbit or guineapig, this can usually be done over an hour or two, however I have had an extremely grumpy german lop castrated male to be bonded and he is on a 2-3 week timescale! Please ask for more details.

Please fill in the form below for information on the rabbits available or to arrange to come and meet them. Thankyou

I regularly collect items for the Sheffield City Council Pound, where all the stray dogs are held. They are in desperate need of newspapers, bedding, dog toys, collars, leads, hard plastic dog beds, duvets, sleeping bags, towels, blankets etc - every little is really appreciated down there.
Also for anyone considing a new dog - there really are some real beauties down there. They occasionally have cats, kittens and puppies too.

2) Are you looking for a new rabbit?
I have rehomed two rescue rabbits in the last few weeks, however I did not know when I took them on that they were pregnant. The babies are now 2 weeks old and will be ready for rehoming when they are 8 weeks old.
All of the babies have been handled since they were 5 days old so should grow up to be really friendly bunnies. If you are interested in adopting a rescue baby, please use the contact us form. More photos of the babies here: http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll319/helenasq/?action=view&current=1a3b69a9.pbw

All baby rescue bunnies rehomed now to lovely new homes - thankyou!
2) Is anyone looking for a new hamster?
I have recently taken in a pair of unwanted Russian Dwarf hamsters, together with their 6 babies. They were split up at 4 weeks old into male and female cages by the previous owner, however the female has just given birth to another 6 babies. I am looking for a loving, permanent home for some of the babies. If you think you could give a rescue hasmter a home, then please don't hesitate to contact me. The mother and father's temperament is fantastic, as is the first the litter of babies. They are all frequently handled. I would appreciate a small donation from anyone taking on a hamster, seen as they have cost quite a bit to keep (bedding, water, megazorb, porrige for mum and babies, etc.
ALL HAMSTERS REHOMED NOW- THANKYOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ADOPTED
